The flat tax makes me wet
I defy you to tell me that this article doesn't at least make your nipples hard.
As an aside, did you know that the US Treasury loses an estimated $380 billion a year because of those who aren't chipping in what they are supposed to?

The link didn't work.
I don't care if it's a flat tax or a consumption tax, either would be such a boon to the public (compared to the current system) that all the benefits would be much greater than the costs and pain involved.
I do wonder what we would do with the large number of accountants and IRS employees that would be laid off, but I'm not sure it's any different than outsourcing assembly to a Mequiladora, programming to India, or manufacturing to China.
The 380,000,000,000 comes from an article I read in the New York Times a couple weeks back. the actual number in the article was either low 380's or high 370's, I don't remember which.
The link works for me...
I'm not sure whether it was the Economist article or the NYT article that mentioned this, but imagine for a moment those thousands of newly under-employed people going out and getting jobs that actually add to the economy.
That's just wrong. So very wrong.
The piercing, I mean. The 380B number looks close, maybe a little high, but close (if you believe the assumptions). Links here and here .
